Mao Chantha’s short testimony
My name is Moa Chantha. I am very glad to share with you of my testimony of how I knew Christ and how I live and serve Him as a teacher. Since, I know Jesus, my life was changed, not because of my own strength, but 100% I leaned on Jesus’ hand to mold me and cleaned me from sin. It doesn’t mean that I am perfect after I knew Him and baptized. I make lots of mistakes and fall many times after that, but every time when I knew I am sinning and falling down, I don’t give up, God helps me to get back up and continue my journey with Him. I asked Him to forgive me and help me to change.
Life begins with a very difficult living situation. My dad was dead when I was a baby. I don’t even know him, but all I knew was from my mother. Later on, I have stepfather when I was 10. He is very bad like demons. Every time, I got beaten and abusing from my stepdad. Life was like the slave, and I never felt peace in life. Every day my stepdad got drunk and arguing with mom and chasing us and beat us with the cord and firewood. In that time, my mom was Christian already, but I don’t. I don’t even really know who Jesus is, because mom always has no time to tell us Bible stories and no time to take care us well. Life in that time is very difficult for me. I cried in heart so much, and I wanted my life to end soon. Everybody in the house seemed don’t really care for me. I just like a dog, and my step dad always said to me that to raise a dog is better to keep me in the house. I was useless and have no any value at all in the house. My stepdad wanted to kill me or chase me out from the house.
But I knew, and I still can feel God’s mercy for my life. He delivered me and set me free from the house and slave for the cruel stepfather. I came to Siem Reap, lived and educated there for more than 10 years in Salt Ministry take cared by my parents in Christ, Tim and Wendy Maddocks. There, in Salt Ministry, all my teachers had taught me lots of lessons from the Bible, and I learned for so much in people’s life in the orphanage and friends. Thanks you so much Salt Ministry for your tender care and love for me. You care for me for so much and I could feel God is there. You watering my spirit and directed me to grow with Jesus daily. I baptized there in 2004. God had worked so much in my life to be a new person, living and working for Him faithfully, love and care for others. I had walked lots of trails and problems in my life-past, and every time I see people living similar like me in the past, I am hurt in heart and I want God just to work in their life like He did for me.
2012, I finished the 12 grade and decided to work for the Lord wherever He would send me to. Some of my classmates were continuing their college while some are working in some part in Cambodia or in Salt Ministry. I’ve been praying and my teachers did prayed for me too. Tim Maddocks had discussed with the CAM (Cambodia Adventist Mission) about me and how I can teach there in Samraong, because he knew I love children and care for them. Tim always hopes that I can do this work. First, I told him that I cannot lead the school, but I would love in teaching, be a simple. I don't want to be the principal because I knew there will be people are gossiping and jealousy with me. And I am too young; people will not listen to me. In September 2012, I moved to Samroang, Otdor Menchey to work in the Adventist school. I met pastor Deane Jackson, who he is the CAM president in Cambodia. He gave me this position as the school principal. I prayed to God more for Him to lead the school not me, but Him trough me. I prayed for love, patient and wisdom in leading. In the school, I’ve learned lots of new things and relate with the government school, running papers and doing report to the Mission and anything as the office department in the government needed. Not just only in the school but I am also working with the church and do the sermon to every places in the province.
Through this, I learned to be stronger and built up my faith and trusting on Jesus. When I was small, I never wanted to be a leader. I wanted to be the least and working under the control with peace and love around. But God had lifted me up and trained me to be a leader. I knew He had a big plan for my future. He is leading and guiding my way daily. Thank You so much Lord for Your love and care for me. You knew me than anyone else in the world. Thank You so much for Your greatest love and mercy for me so I can use this love for my students and to anybody I’ve met. I hope this testimony will help you all in your life and built up your faith in God. Remember that God will never look down on you. Sometime, we felt we cannot do the work and no confident in our way of life. We felt we are small and useless. People don’t give us the value and jealous with us, they tried to make us down. But, friends never give up your faith in God. He never let us down; never fail us or leave us alone don’t care. Never, and never friends. God loves you. He loves you and desires you to be with Him in heaven where is we all belong. You are special, no others can replace you in God’s eyes, Only you with God. God bless you.
